Ayurveda:
the science and philosophy of life

Shodana Ayurveda Center

"Ayu" (life) and "Veda"(knowledge) are two Sanskrit words which when used together mean the knowledge of the life. Ayurveda originated in India and reached Europe in the middle of the 1980's.

The ancient Indian science of life teaches us natural healing methods to restore the harmony of body and soul. Different massages with oils can result in:

  • Increased vitality
  • Strengthened immune system
  • Prevention of illness
  • Healthy sleep
  • Revitalisation of the senses
  • Strengthening of organs Cell regeneration
  • Reduction and slowing of the ageing process
  • Removal of emotional blocks

Ayurveda considers the individual state of the person in all their shapes and forms. In Ayurveda the person is seen as being made up of different elements in varying proportions of air, fire, water, ether and earth. From these elements the bioenergies Vata, Pitta and Kapha, are constructed.

Every person therefore is categorized, according to these parts, into his or her own constitution type.

Our basic treatment consists of massages and treatments with specially prepared herb oils. These oils help loosen and remove toxic substances from the body. Through further therapeutic processes such as sweat-cures, enemas, or taking vegetable extracts; these toxic substances are finally eliminated from the body.
